After watching Scotland’s first two World Cup games in Boston, my brother Hugh and I needed to travel more than 1,500 miles from Boston to Miami for Scotland’s final group match. Instead of flying, we hired a huge 9-metre RV and set off on what we hoped would be an unforgettable USA road trip. The only problem was that we had just four days to get there, and our RV pickup got off to a disastrous start.

In this USA road trip adventure, we attempt to collect our Indie Campers RV near Boston, only to receive conflicting pickup addresses, cancelled bedding and no staff waiting for us. It quickly turned into an RV rental disaster and a road trip gone wrong before we’d even left the car park. Once the motorhome finally arrived, we experienced Walmart for the first time, stocked up for our journey and prepared for our first time driving an RV in America.

This is just the beginning of our Boston to Miami RV road trip and East Coast USA road trip, with more than 1,500 miles still ahead of us....

The longest circumnavigation yacht race in the world. 🌍⛵

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race covers more than 40,000 nautical miles over 11 months, taking crews across the Atlantic, Pacific and Southern Oceans.

The fleet is made up of identical 70-foot ocean racing yachts, each led by a professional skipper. What's incredible is that many of the crew started with little or no sailing experience before completing intensive training.

The race has arrived in Oban on Scotland’s west coast for only the second time ever, and I was lucky enough to step aboard one of the yachts and head out for a sail. What an experience!

On Sunday, the fleet sets off on its final leg to Portsmouth, where the race will finish after beginning there last August. What an incredible journey.

Before visiting the USA, I’ll admit I was slightly nervous. Like many people outside America, I’d seen plenty of international news, but I wanted to experience the country for myself rather than judge it through the headlines. So I travelled to Boston, Massachusetts, to see what it was really like.

In this USA travel video, my brother Hugh and I explore some of the best things to do in Boston, from the Freedom Trail, Beacon Hill and Boston Common to the city’s historic waterfront. Along the way, I share my honest first impressions of America, try iconic Boston food like lobster roll and clam chowder, and discover why this historic city completely exceeded my expectations.

Although I originally travelled to America to follow Scotland at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, this series is about much more than football.
