I hiked 2 hours into the Scottish Highlands to experience sleeping overnight alone in a remote Scottish Highlands bothy in an abandoned village.

Peanmeanach was once a crofting community and is now an abandoned village in Scotland, making this a very unique bothy adventure.

If you are wondering what is a bothy... a bothy is a simple shelter found in remote parts of Scotland. Many Scottish bothies are free and unlocked, offering basic accommodation for walkers exploring the mountains. This particular Scottish Highland bothy is now privately managed and must be booked online if you wish to stay there.
