Konami announced it a few weeks back, but we thought that a little reminder was in order: the Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse free demo is now available!

The freebie lets you play through the “early stages of the game,” according to Konami, and yes, all of your hard-earned save data will be carried over to the full release, so you don’t have to start again when it drops in two weeks on 15th October.

The double-y good news is that, despite not having a dedicated Switch 2 release, the demo runs wonderfully on the new hardware. It seems to be sitting at a smooth 60fps on Switch 2 — double the locked 30fps that Konami announced for the Switch 1 version earlier this summer.

For those who have missed this one so far, Belmont’s Curse sees Dead Cells team Motion Twin and Evil Empire turning their attention to a full-blown Castlevania title — after their wonderful ‘Return to Castlevania‘ DLC convinced us that they are absolutely ready for the mantle. It’s your usual 2D ‘vania affair, but we can certainly feel the Dead Cells vibes in it so far, with super snappy combat and great movement options.

We’ll be diving into the demo today and then twiddling our thumbs for the next two weeks while we await the full release.
