PlatinumGames has offered a brief yet tantalising comment on the future of Bayonetta during an interview with Famitsu (thanks, Nintendo Everything).

The company’s CEO Atsushi Inaba was speaking alongside Shift Up’s Kim Hyung Tae, with the pair having recently collaborated on a Bayonetta costume for Stellar Blade. Inaba was asked if he could comment on what PlatinumGames’ next move will be in relation to Bayonetta, to which he said:

“Well… I can’t really answer that at the moment. As for Bayonetta, I strongly feel that I want to expand her as a character and broaden her world. Please wait to see exactly what shape that will take.”

When pushed to speak on a potential new game, Inaba simply said “no comment”, with Kim stating that they’ll be speaking off the record after the interview, jokingly pushing for the interview to end.

So it sounds like Bayonetta certainly has a future, though what form that will take is uncertain at this time. Series creator Hideki Kamiya left PlatinumGames and is now working on an Okami sequel at his new studios Clovers, but it seems PlatinumGames is keen to continue working on Bayonetta in his absence.

If it’s a full sequel to Bayonetta 3, it’s likely that this will be heading to the Switch 2 in collaboration with Nintendo once again, but we’ll have to wait and see.
