Watch: Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Kids Follow This Royally Sweet 10-Day Family Rule
There’s nothing like a royal welcome.
Almost two months after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved back to the U.K. with their kids Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, the couple made their first official joint outing since their return.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped out in Nottingham, England, on Oct. 15, where they visited the local Community Recording Studio (CRS), a charity that gives young people access to music and professional recording equipment.
For the occasion, Meghan wore a chic, all-burgundy look featuring a belted skirt, turtleneck and wool coat. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail and her face was all smiles as she and Harry—who wore dark jeans, a white button-down and a gray blazer—greeted cheering onlookers before making their way inside the studio.
The couple chatted with local schoolchildren, took selfies with the crowd and were presented with multiple bouquets of flowers. According to People, Meghan told one supporter, “It’s good to be back.”
After all, Nottingham marks a significant step in the couple’s relationship. Back in December 2017, Meghan made her first official royal outing alongside Harry, four days after they’d announced their engagement.
Now, just about a decade later, as People reported, when one woman in the waiting crowd showed Meghan a photograph from that 2017 visit, the Suits alum replied, “That’s so special.”
Since their late August move back to the U.K., Harry and Meghan have kept a relatively low profile as they’ve readjusted to life back across the pond, which marks an extended but temporary stay in England.

But while the public may not have seen the couple, that doesn’t mean they haven’t been busy settling into their new lives—including enrolling Archie and Lilibet in local school.
As Harry told HELLO! Magazine in an interview published Sept. 18, “The last two weeks have been—it’s been eventful. We’re getting stuck into the work. Kids are in school. We’re happy.”
Nevertheless, the 41-year-old “it’s wonderful to be back on British soil,” especially when it comes to his charity, the Invictus Games, adding it’s “really nice to see so many old faces and friends.”
And while Harry and Meghan have marked their first official outing back in the U.K., that doesn’t mean they’ve stepped back into their roles as senior royals—duties they stepped back from when they relocated to California in 2020.

As King Charles, through Lord Chamberlain Richard Benyon, noted upon Harry and Meghan’s return, the move created “no change to the current status of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
“The charitable work of the Duke and Duchess is a personal matter for them both and undertaken in their private capacity,” the Sept. 7 statement continued. “In short, their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.”
But as Harry and Meghan replant their roots as a family in the U.K., read on to see some of the couple’s sweetest moments with their kids.
