By the end of Grey’s Anatomy‘s last season, Meredith Grey had finally made the choice to pick, choose and love transplant surgeon Nick Marsh.

So, now that Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, Camilla Luddington and the ABC franchise’s many other stars are back to doing rounds for the 23rd season, will we get to see a non-Post-it note wedding?

Maybe…

With both Pompeo and costar Scott Speedman “super busy,” showrunner Meg Marinis explained to TVLine, “We’ll take them as often as we can get them.”

The Oct. 15 premiere could also prove to be a beautiful day for Alexis Floyd‘s surgical resident Simone Griffith to shape up her relationship with surgical intern Wes Bryant (Trevor Jackson) after exiting the love triangle that once included Niko Terho‘s resident Lucas Adams.

“Simone would like us to believe that she’s chosen Wes, and Lucas is out of the picture,” Marinis teased, “but I wouldn’t be so sure about that.”

Meanwhile, Kim Raver‘s Dr. Teddy Altman and Kevin McKidd‘s Dr. Owen Hunt have officially scrubbed out of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, hoping a move to Paris could be just what the doctor ordered to heal their on-and-off romance.

Fortunately, the prognosis for the series’ IRL relationships is far healthier.

Having successfully sutured together a life with fellow Boston native Chris Ivery as far from the spotlight as possible, Pompeo raved to Extra last year, “My husband is very patient.”
