After being rumoured earlier this year, Hazelight has announced that its award-winning co-op adventure, It Takes Two, will be getting a full Switch 2 upgrade next week.

The new version launches on 15th October, as a free upgrade to anyone who owns the Switch 1 version. Naturally, the Friend’s Pass will be sticking around too, so you’ll be able to play with a pal even if only one of you owns it.

The game boasts enhanced graphics and performance on Switch 2 (1080p and 60fps in Docked Mode), faster load times, and even more ways to play together thanks to GameShare. Hazelight has also announced that it’ll be launching cross-play support on the very same day, so you’ll be able to play the Switch 2 version with friends on PC, Xbox Series, Xbox One, PS4 or PS5.

Such cross-play features won’t be quite as expansive for anyone playing on Switch 1 — where you’ll only be able to play online with a Switch 2 player if they downgrade to the OG Switch version — but hey, the launch is all about the new hardware, at the end of the day.

“Now-standard graphical compromises have been made for Switch, and the typical perk of playing handheld is questionable for an always-split-screen co-op-only game,” we said of the Switch 1 version back in 2022. “Nonetheless, it keeps the frames moving well enough not to undermine its Game-of-the-Year sparkle.”

With some visual polish on Switch 2, we might even be tempted for another playthrough.
