End of an era

When Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches on 8th April 2027, it will mark the conclusion of Square Enix’s ambitious remake project that was first announced at E3 in 2015 – until its DLC expansions release, that is.
So for the voice actors who have been bringing such iconic characters to life for so long, it’s naturally going to be a pretty emotional time. In a video shared by Kenneth Shepard from Kotaku during a New York City Comic Con panel, we can see the cast partake in their final recording sessions for the game.
Don’t worry, there are no spoilers here, but it’s clear that this is a big moment for the cast. Brianna White and Britt Baron, who play Aerith and Tifa respectively, even shed a few tears. Meanwhile, Travis Willingham, who’s taking over the role of Sephiroth in Revelation, jokingly recites a line about Cool Ranch being the best Doritos flavour. As you do!
It’s lovely to see, and you can see just how much these characters mean to the cast. Hell, they’ve been doing this for at least six or seven years at this point – that’s, like, longer than high school.
We’re definitely eager to see how things pan out in Revelation. We won’t go into any spoilers, but to say that the trilogy has deviated from the original would be somewhat of an understatement at this stage. We went hands-on with the game on PS5 recently and came away feeling excited yet admittedly worried about how it might look on the Switch 2.
