Watch: Boy Meets World’s Will Friedle Reacts to Ben Savage’s Absence From Reunion Documentary
Wandering down this road that we call life can bring some uninvited speed bumps.
And Boy Meets World’s Will Friedle definitely did not want to spend a recent Saturday in the hospital.
“I woke up badly peeing blood,” he told his Pod Meets World cohosts Rider Strong and Danielle Fishel during the Oct. 8 episode of their podcast. “So, I go to the hospital.”
But as it turns out, the issue couldn’t be solved in just one day.
“Long story short, I’m still in the middle of it. I have a kidney stone,” the 50-year-old explained. “I’ve got three days of just waiting to see.”
Indeed, Friedle was told by his doctors that the stone was too small to be broken up by any medical interventions.
“Once again, size matters,” he quipped, “and above a six is they can do stuff to it, but it’s stuff that’s apparently very invasive. Where mine’s a four—which again I heard is average and most women like.”
Jokes aside, Friedle also noted his hospital visit didn’t fly as under the radar as he might have hoped.
“It gets better,” he said. “Because for some reason, on this day, in that hospital, I was more famous than I’ve ever been in my life.”
Indeed, because the ER was so crowded, Friedle was forced to wait in a bed in the hallway—during which a nurse recognized him as the former onscreen Eric Matthews.

“One of the nurses comes up to me, and does the Feeny call,” he said. “She goes, ‘So, here you go, you have a copay, and oh, you want to put it on a credit card?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, sure.’ Like reach over and I grab and hand her the credit card. And then she looks at me. She goes, ‘Feenay, Fe-hee-nay.’”
“I was like, ‘Thank you so much. Just, just filled up a glass with blood, but thank you,’” he joked. “‘It’s very sweet that you’re that you’re watching.’”
In reality, however, Friedle—who has been married to wife Susan Martens for 10 years—was grateful for the good care he received.
“They couldn’t have been sweeter there,” he emphasized. “They really couldn’t have been nicer.”
As for anyone who’s never had a kidney stone, he wants them to count their blessings.
“You just think you’re going to the bathroom, and then you’re like, ‘Oh my God, something inside me is horribly broken,’” he explained. “I literally walked out, and I go, ‘Hey, hey, babe?’ And she looks at me, and she could tell.”
He added, “She’s like, ‘You had no color in your face.’ I was like, ‘Well, because I just peed it all away.’”
Thankfully, though a painful passing, Friedle will soon be on the mend.
