Watch: ‘Big Brother’ 28 Contestant Levi Banks Explains Sudden Exit Before Premiere
The votes are in on the winner of Big Brother season 28.
But first, a recap: Heading into the Oct. 1 finale, houseguests Taylor Brown, Drew Campbell and Survivor player turned BB Icon Rick Devens made up the final three.
And while each player earned their finale spot playing a distinct game, it was ultimately Devens who the felled players in the Jury decided had earned the win.
As for how he got there?
While Big Brother finale night always begins with three people, it is only ever two players who are destined to deliver their final pitches on why they should win the game.
This year, after the final three-part Head of Household, it was Devens himself who emerged victorious. The reality TV alum was then able to choose which player he wanted to bring with him into the final two chairs—a.k.a., which player he thought he could beat.
And though he’d previously promised Drew, his closest ally, he’d bring him to the final two no matter what, it turns out Taylor had delivered an effective Hail Mary pitch: If he didn’t bring her to final two, she would guarantee he didn’t get hers or LaTrice Verrett’s votes.
Which is how it ended up bring Taylor and Devens who ultimately gave the six-figure sales pitch. And both players made compelling cases for why they should win Big Brother and take home the $750,000 prize.
Taylor kicked the speeches off, emphasizing the way she continuously endured. Despite sitting on the block a whopping six times, the House never voted to evict her—and in doing so paved her way to finale night.

“Being humble, being vigilant, being respectful have been the words and actions that I have wanted to instill and show while I was here,” she told the Jury members. “And with that, I did. Call me the Cinderella of the season, because I prevailed through it all! My game was always here. I wasn’t silent; I was just settled.”x
Devens, meanwhile, led with his dominance throughout the game—and with good reason. He, fellow Survivor player Dee Valladares and BB two-timer Angela Murray made up the “Icons,” controlling much of the game all season.
“I wanted all the smoke,” Devens told the jury. “I made big swings every time I had the chance. I did not want to coast. I wanted to attack this game. And that is exactly what I did.”
While both compelling cases, however, the Jury voted for Devens in a 7-1 split, with LaTrice being the only player to vote for Taylor. Even Drew, despite Devens’ last-minute betrayal, voted in his favor.

And after being crowned, the two-time Survivor player was overcome with emotion—and so was his family. Devens’ wife Becca Devens and two children were crying tears of joy as he greeted them in the audience.
But it turns out, $750,000 wasn’t the only prize Devens would be awarded that night. In addition to his big win, Devens was also crowned America’s Favorite Player, narrowly beating out Drew and Yash Patel, earning him an extra $50,000. That, combined with the $10,000 he earned in the house during the Pharaoh’ Curse makes him the biggest Big Brother winner in history, walking $810,000.
“Dude, life is weird,” he told ET after the finale. “I would not have gone on this show if Becca Devens hadn’t said, ‘You have to go on. This is the only time you’re ever gonna be asked because it’s Survivor 50. You have to do it.’ And I said, ‘Oh, okay. All right. I guess I’ll do it.’”
And as he pointed out, “Things worked out pretty well, man. It was a wild adventure. It was tough. But I’m happy it’s worked out the way it has.”
