Watch: ‘This Morning’ Host Alison Hammond Hospitalized After Abruptly Walking Off Show Live on Air
Alison Hammond is on the mend after a scary incident.
One day after the This Morning host suddenly walked off the U.K. talk show during a live segment, she shared that she suffered a panic attack.
“I’m just getting in touch to let you all know that I’m home, I’m safe, and I’m feeling so much better,” Hammond began in a video shared to her Instagram Stories Oct. 3. “Thanks to everyone at the [National Health Service] who did the checks on my heart, lungs, bloods.”
“I’m all okay,” she continued. “It’s all clear, which would mean I had a massive panic attack on live TV. I mean, the shame of it. But it felt very real to me.”
As the Great British Baking Show co-host emphasized, the experience was foreign to her.
“I’m really new to panic attacks,” she said, “so I need to learn more about it.”
During the Oct. 2 episode of This Morning, Hammond was presenting a segment with her co-host Dermot O’Leary when she abruptly rushed off camera, with O’Leary sharing that the 51-year-old was “feeling a little unwell” and he’d be continuing the show solo.
Hammond later reassured fans that she was doing “fine” and was getting her “little ticker checked out” in a video on her Instagram Stories from a hospital bed. In fact, the British TV personality expressed that she hoped she had a panic attack and that it wasn’t another issue.
And while the incident was scary, Hammond shared that she’s grateful for all of the love and support she’s received, including from her This Morning family.

“I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone at This Morning who looked after me, all of your messages,” she explained in her Oct. 3. video. “Dermot, who’s just been incredible. Everyone has just honestly, it’s really warmed my heart.
“I didn’t necessarily want to be on the news or anything like that,” Hammond admitted, “but I mean, this is a new world to me. I’m gonna take stock, get some rest, and I’ll see you soon.”
