Watch: Has the “Adventures in Babysitting” Cast Seen the Original?
Each time we see Elisabeth Shue, we can’t wait to see her again.
Luckily, the Adventures in Babysitting alum surprised fans with an ultra-rare red carpet appearance at the premiere of Whalefall in Los Angeles Oct. 13.
For the outing, Shue paid homage to her 1980s roots, sporting a short long-sleeved black dress adorned with red roses. She paired the grunge look with black sheer tights and platform strapped heels, opting for a simple hairstyle for her golden blonde locks—parted down the middle with blown out waves.
Shue posed for solo shots, as well as photos with her Whalefall castmates Austin Abrams, Josh Brolin and John Ortiz.
And while Shue—mom to three kids with husband Davis Guggenheim—has remained booked and busy with appearances in The Boys and Gen V in the last few years, her latest outing marks her first major red carpet appearance since 2024, when she attended the BAFTA Awards alongside her husband.
Of course, Shue, whose brother Andrew Shue followed in her acting footsteps, has kept an intentionally lower profile since her breakout in Adventures in Babysitting in 1987. And she’s happy it’s the role that she’s most recognized for.
“I really love that it still holds up,” Shue explained during a 2017 interview with HeyUGuys. “It’s got great pacing, I think the comedy is still strong. I like that there’s a woman in the lead for my kids to see. I’m very proud.”
Of course, the 63-year-old has also cheekily revealed one not-so-great part of just how iconic her role as Chris Parker has become—especially when it comes to her catchphrase.

“My father, when I was filming it, said, ‘You cannot say, ‘Don’t f–k with the babysitter,’ because one day, kids everywhere will think that it’s OK to say,” Shue admitted during a 2017 appearance on The Steve Harvey Show. “Cut to, my son watched it when he was two and a half and ran around the house saying, ‘Don’t f–k with the babysitter, mom!’”
