Old Age Marriage Drama ‘Love, After All’ Trailer with Dagmar Manzel​

“To us.” “My Lore.” “Your Harry.” Screen has debuted the first official trailer for a charming indie film from Germany titled Love, After All, which is premiering at the Zurich Film Festival underway now. Made by German director Andreas Dresen (of Cloud 9, Gundermann, From Hilde With Love), the film is titled Alte Liebe (Old Love) in German and will open in Germany this October. A couple married for 40 years have grown distant. When their young granddaughter visits and their adult daughter announces her engagement to an older industrialist, their stagnant routine is disrupted. It seems like this “disruption” allows them a chance to rediscover each other & fall in love all over again. Starring Dagmar Manzel as Lore & Joachim Król as Harry, with Anna von Seld & Liane Düsterhöft. ZFF states it’s “a heartwarming, down-to-earth love story with authentic characters and plenty of humor.” A very nice little film about growing old together.

Lore (Dagmar Manzel) and Harry (Joachim Król) have been married for nearly 40 years and rarely have a quiet moment together. Old stories, missed opportunities, and the uncertainties of retirement often lead to heated discussions. Lore fears that she will wither away beside Harry in the garden, while he longs for stability and peace. The only thing they agree on is that their daughter, Gloria, hasn’t had much luck in love. Now, she wants to get married for the third time – this time to a wealthy man almost Harry’s age. A heartwarming, down-to-earth love story with authentic characters and plenty of humor. Love, After All, also known as Alte Liebe in German, is directed by German filmmaker Andreas Dresen, director of the films Stilles Land, Night Shapes, Grill Point, Willenbrock, Cloud 9, Whiskey with Vodka, Stopped on Track, Gundermann, Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush, and From Hilde With Love previously. The screenplay is written by Laila Stieler & Andreas Dresen; adapted from the novel by Elke Heidenreich & Bernd Schroeder. Produced by Alexandra Kordes, Meike Kordes, & Alexandra Kordes. This just premiered at the 2026 Zurich Film Festival this fall. The film opens in Germany first in October.
