Watch: Aaron Rodgers Details Future Family Plans With Wife Brittani After Retirement
Mike McCarthy is throwing a flag on this hot mic moment with Aaron Rodgers.
The Pittsburgh Steelers coach apologized for having a heated exchange with the quarterback during their Oct. 1 game against the Cleveland Browns.
“Communication sometimes is not the best choice of words, but everybody’s competing on the field,” he said during a press conference after the Steelers’ 27-24 loss. “I think what’s said on the field, the way I grew up in this game, usually stays on the field. That’s not the case today. I understand that.”Â
He also expressed regret for the tense moment, adding, “Any negative communication on my part, I wish I wouldn’t use those words.”
During the first quarter of the game, Rodgers was seen gesturing at the sideline and heard yelling, “What the f–k? Call it!” In response, McCarthy appeared to be muttering, “F–king a–hole.” But the frustration between Rodgers and McCarthy seemed to subside later in the game, when the NFL star earned a pat on his helmet after running a quarterback sneak in the fourth quarter.
For Rodgers’ part, he also shared more about the delayed communication that led to the yelling.
“It was loud,” he explained during the post-game conference. “It was definitely a good crowd tonight. It was loud. So some of the calls, it was hard to hear for sure.”
The 42-year-oldâwho signed to the Pennsylvania team in 2025 after playing two seasons with the New York Jetsâalso took accountability for his own missteps during the game.

“I have to look at the film, but it wasn’t our cleanest game all the way around,” Rodgers explained. “They’re a good defense, so you got to give them credit, but they were getting after us on some of the long-yardage stuff. We weren’t winning a bunch and I missed a couple throws I usually hit.”
While Rodgers and McCarthy continue to work on their game-day dynamic, keep reading for a closer look at celebrity feuds.
