Watch: Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Partner Ken Urker Had Drug Paraphernalia at Time of Death
Ken Urker appeared to be in a dark place before his death.
One day before Gypsy Rose Blanchard‘s boyfriend was found dead in his Lousiana home, he had attended church with Gypsy’s half-brother Dylan Blanchard and his wife Anita Blanchard, the couple told police after finding his body Oct. 1.
Dylan and Anita said Ken had been at church with them on Sept. 30 at 8:45 p.m., and they became concerned after hearing his state of mind.
“They stated Mr. Urker made comments of being depressed and upset,” Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Brandon Smith wrote in a police report obtained by E! News. “They advised he made a TikTok live video at approximately [11 p.m.]. They advised that he just had the video going while he was driving without him saying anything.”
The couple told authorities that “due to his behavior” and learning from Ken’s boss Justin Daigle that the 34-year-old did not show up for work, they all decided to “check on him” around 6 p.m. on Oct. 1, per the police report.
“Dylan Blanchard was able to gain access to Mr. Urker’s bedroom window, due to it being unlocked,” the doc stated, “and was able to see Mr. Urker lying on his bed unconscious. Once they realized Mr. Urker was not answering, Mr. Blanchard and Justin Daigle moved the blinds and made entry through the window and located Mr. Urker in his bed, cold to the touch.”
Justin told police that Ken “was cold and not breathing.”
When Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived, they found Ken lying on his back in bed, saying he “appeared to have been there for an extended period of time.”

Authorities discovered drug paraphernalia, including syringes and a spoon, in the bathroom “next to a brown powdery substance.”
“He had a paper towel placed on his left arm with what appeared to be blotches of blood on the paper towel,” the Sergeant continued. “The handgun on the night stand was holstered laying next to two shot glasses and a syringe. Nothing else inside of the bedroom appeared to be disturbed or moved.”

While Ken’s official cause of death has not been revealed, the Sheriff’s Office listed the incident as an “overdose.”
Gypsy—who shared daughter Aurora, 21 months, with Ken—also said he had overdosed before dying on his 34th birthday.
“I don’t know if it was intentional or not,” the Life After Lockup star told People. “He was not in a good state of mind lately.”
“I’m in disbelief. I can’t think,” she added. “I’ve screamed until my throat burns.”
