Watch: Jennifer Aniston Says “The Morning Show” Role Felt “Oddly Natural”
The Morning Show is saying goodnight.
Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston’s Apple TV series is officially coming to an end with its fifth season, set to premiere in 2027, the stars confirmed in a press release July 23.
“From the beginning, Apple has supported our vision for The Morning Show, and we feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to tell stories that reflect what’s happening in the world around us with a twist of dark humor,” Aniston, who plays Alex Levy, said. “It’s been such a privilege to work with this insanely talented cast, and our extraordinary writers, producers, and crew.”
And the Friends star revealed,“We’ve become such a family and we’re all so excited to share this final season.”
But fans of the Emmy-winning series don’t need to worry about any unfinished scripts hitting the prompter, or rather their TVs.
“Going in knowing it would be our last, we were so fortunate to craft the conclusion with intentionality,” Aniston assured, “and honor these characters the way they deserve.”
Meanwhile, Witherspoon, who stars as Alex’s co-anchor and occasional foil Bradley Jackson, called filming the series an “honor of a lifetime.”
“This was always more than a show about a newsroom—it was a show about why the newsroom matters,” she continued. “About freedom of the press, and the journalists who protect the fourth estate, often at great cost. Telling that story has been the creative privilege of my career.”
As Witherspoon put it, “It has been a stellar creative experience—one I will always treasure.”

The final season of The Morning Show—which also stars Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass and Jon Hamm—has a lot of ground to cover. In the latest installment, the merger at UBA-NBN is finally complete, and the newsroom has to grapple with how to deliver the news as trust in the media falters.

Of course, the tying up of loose ends doesn’t mean there won’t be new faces. The press release confirmed that in addition to the return of the longtime cast members, Jeff Daniels, Reneé Rapp, Jesse Williams, Sean Hayes and Lizzy Caplan are set to appear in the upcoming season.
The Morning Show season five won’t be out until 2027. In the meantime, keep reading for every series to keep on your release radar…
