Peacock announced Wednesday that TED: The Animated Series will premiere with eight episodes on December 17, with additional episodes set to stream in 2027.
Created by Seth MacFarlane, Paul Corrigan, and Brad Walsh, the cartoon is a sequel to the two live-action Ted movies. You can check out the teaser trailer here and find the new poster below.
The animated series brings back the cast of 2012’s Ted and 2015’s Ted 2.
MacFarlane reprises his role as the voice of Ted; Mark Wahlberg, as the voice of Ted’s best friend, John; Amanda Seyfried, as the voice of John’s wife, Sam; and Jessica Barth as Ted’s wife, Tami-Lynn.
Kyle Mooney and Liz Richman also join the cast as series regulars in the roles of Apollo and Ruth, respectively.
“Picking up twelve years after the conclusion of the last movie, John and his thunder-buddy Ted are neighbors, both with families of their own and dead-end jobs,” according to the official plot synopsis.
“Follow these two lovable stoners as they enable each other’s bad ideas about marriage, parenting and the challenges of adult life.”
Corrigan and Walsh serve as co-showrunners. Rough Draft Studios, Inc. animates the show.
McFarlane and Peacock previously teamed for two seasons of the live-action Ted: The TV Series.
McFarlane recently cast doubt on Peacock greenlighting Season 3 given the costly visual effects involved in bringing his foul-mouthed teddy bear character to life.
