Watch: Why Mormon Wives’ Layla Taylor Doesn’t See a Path Forward With Taylor Frankie Paul
Taylor Frankie Paul isn’t letting Layla Taylor get the last word.
After The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star told E! News that she didn’t see her friendship with her longtime costar returning to what it once was, Paul sent back a fiery response.
“I wonder if she knows she can talk about other things too?” the MomTok creator posited in an Oct. 7 TikTok post summarizing Taylor’s interview. “Then again, it was the only clip of her talking that made headlines.”
The 32-year-old—mom to Indy, 9, and Ocean, 6, with ex Tate Paul, as well as Ever, 2, with ex Dakota Mortensen—admitted with a shrug emoji, “Can’t blame her.”
Paul’s comments were a swift response to Taylor, who said she was “hoping for the best” for the future of the Hulu series on the tail ofMikayla Matthews’ departure and Paul’s indication she too was walking away. (Paul’s ex Mortensen and Jessi Draper’s estranged husband Jordan Ngatikaura also part of the cast shakeup.)
“Right now, I’m just day by day,” the TikToker confessed to E! News at Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea Awards 2026 on Oct. 6. “This is obviously such a hard experience and everything that’s been happening has been very hard to navigate.”
What Taylor—who shares two kids with ex Clayton Wessel—admitted was especially hard was moving on from her prior friendship with Paul.
“I think for me personally, the behaviors in her relationship were hard to watch,” Taylor explained, “and then she started to be hateful towards me and my friends and say some really harmful things.”
And while the 25-year-old expressed that she wished Paul “well” amid her ongoing custody battle with Mortensen, as well as allegations of domestic violence (though no official charges have been filed), she explained that when it comes to their friendship, “For me and my mental health, I need to take a step back.”

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time Paul—who said she did not “desire” to move forward on Mormon Wives last month—has called out her fellow reality TV stars.
“My gratitude goes to all the networks that supported me throughout this and gave me the chance to return,” Paul wrote in a lengthy Sept. 21 Instagram post. “Some of the girls know what I’ve been through and then to turn and collectively pile on with their ‘statements’ knowing there has been ongoing abuse through the system the last 8 months on top of what I’ve endured. Almost the entire cast plus some, going at me….laughing about my kids is disgusting.”
While alleging her castmates were hypocritical for judging her, Paul digressed, “It’s a pleasure to remove myself so they can continue.”
