Ascent DX (Sleepy Grove Games, 20th Aug, $2.99) – Ascent DX is a tiny metroidvania brought to life in glorious 64 x 64 pixel art and soothing chiptune music. Crashed on an unknown planet you have to explore lush jungles, lifeless deserts, and luminescent caves in search of anything that can help you understand what has happened to the planet and how to get off it. While the game is a bigger version of the original Ascent, with almost twice as many locations to explore, it is still quite a short game. With the same celebrated gameplay and atmosphere, the DX versions also brings more items to find, more platforming puzzles, and more lore to uncover.

EGGCONSOLE THE LEGEND OF HEROES III: “White Witch” Renewal PC-9801 (D4 Enterprise, 20th Aug, $7.16) – This role-playing game was originally released by Nihon Falcom in 1994. Titled “Renewal,” this version is based on the original The Legend of Heroes III but features improved game mechanics and balance. Players control Jurio, a somewhat timid boy, and the heroine Chris, as they embark on a pilgrimage for their village’s coming-of-age ceremony. Before long, their journey leads them to unravel the mystery of the “White Witch. ” The game features a top-down perspective with random encounters. Combat utilizes an auto-battle system, making it intuitive and accessible for everyone. However, the early game can be challenging due to a small party size. In such situations, adjusting the combat settings in the command menu is recommended. True to the Falcom style, this title offers a grand narrative and unique character interactions, allowing players to enjoy a quintessential RPG experience.

Fractured Worlds (Laser Guided Games, 26th Aug, $22.99) – Fractured Worlds is a Dark Fantasy Action RPG set in a reality that has been broken into pieces by the ambition of its inhabitants.
