Layla Taylor‘s latest romance is sweeter than a dirty soda.

Two weeks after the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star soft-launched her relationship with a mystery woman, she seemingly confirmed that she is dating Kelsie Chesser.

“When I slid into my girlfriend’s DMs just hoping she was into girls,” Chesser wrote over her July 21 TikTok video, which saw her lip-sync to the viral Beyoncé audio, “I didn’t have a pen and paper. I got to the mic and I’m like, ‘Oh, press record.'”

The micro-influencer captioned the post, “Thankful she was #wlw #girlfriend.”

Meanwhile, Layla commented under the video, appearing to prove that Chesser was speaking about her. She wrote, “Folded.”

The reality star—who shares two kids with ex-husband Clayton Wessell—first gave a glimpse of her new romance earlier this month when she posted a video on Instagram showing off a mystery woman’s tattooed forearm and hand.

She teased in the caption, “Chivalry isn’t dead it’s w the lesbians.”

Mormon Wives‘ Layla Taylor Shares Glimpse at New Girlfriend After Coming Out as Bisexual

The 25-year-old’s relationship update comes on the heels of her addressing her sexuality for the first time.

“It’s just something that I honestly didn’t really know how to formally address for a long period of my life,” she explained on the On Purpose With Jay Shetty podcast in June. “I’m gay and I’m bi and date women and men.”

But growing up in Utah and converting to Mormonism at age 16 ultimately kept Layla—who broke up with costar Miranda McWhorter‘s brother Mason McWhorter in February—from expressing her bisexuality.

“Growing up, I didn’t fit in for a lot of reasons in my childhood,” she reflected. “I grew up in a very predominantly white area, and being a little Black girl, I already stood out so much to my peers and took that on a lot more than I feel like I realized.”

“I always had these thoughts and I kind of laugh about it now,” she continued, “because I would be watching shows like Pretty Little Liars and I would watch Shay Mitchell kissing a girl. I was like, ‘Wait, why is that hot?'”

As queer representation continues to blossom in media, she began feeling more comfortable with her own attraction to men and women. And now, Layla is ready to be the version of herself she’s always wanted.

“I would just kind of underplay it for a long period of my life,” she noted. “I just feel like I’m finally in the era that I’m over not being truly myself and I’m over not showing every part of Layla to the world. I’m very proud now to be out.”

And her friends played a supporting role in the decision. “All of a sudden, I had these people around me who were either nonbinary people, trans friends, or lesbians,” she told Billboard months later, “and I was like, ‘I feel so happy when I’m with you guys. Becca TilleyThough the Bachelor alum has been dating singer Hayley Kiyoko since 2018, she did not publicly come out until four years into her relationship. And though she admitted it felt weird once everyone found out, she saw the impact of publicly sharing her truth. “I realized this is so much bigger than me and my relationship and my personal experience because if it helped anyone feel comfortable or brave to be comfortable with who they fall in love with, then that’s way bigger than me and my fears and what I was scared of,” she told E! News in June 2022. “It’s very humbling to read comments like that and realize the significance of something as simple as falling in love and sharing that.”

Troye SivanThree years after coming out to his family at age 15, Troye publicly shared his story in a YouTube video. And as he later recalled, his decision to come out occurred amid a pivotal moment in his life.”I was about to sign my record deal, and I really wanted to be in charge of how I came out,” he told People in February 2022. “I didn’t want anyone to take that away from me. I wanted to start going out and going to gay clubs and meeting boys, and I wanted to write songs about love that were true and genuine.”

Chrishell StauseThe Selling Sunset star—who is married to singer G Flip—stresses the importance of prioritizing yourself. “If someone truly loves you, your happiness should always come before their beliefs,” Chrishell, who began her romance with the Australian singer in 2022, told E! News. “All it takes is one friend that you know will be supportive. And that friend can be your island and just kind of branch out from there. It’s always worse in your head than it’s going to be.”
