Watch: Tiffani Thiessen Reveals How Much She Really Gets From Saved by the Bell Residuals
Mario Lopez is glad Tiffani Thiessen is schooling Saved by the Bell fans.
Shortly after the actress revealed that she makes “negative” money from the NBC series’ residuals, her costar shared her statement, writing in a Sept. 30 post on X, “Real talk!”
Thiessen’s candid reflection on her earnings from the hit teen sitcom—which also starred Dustin Diamond, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Elizabeth Berkley and Lark Voorhies—went viral earlier this month due to the shocking amount she receives from the famously rerun series.
“I think it has dried out,” the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum explained during an appearance on Page Six Radio Sept. 24. “It’s like, negative now. It costs more to print the check.”
Meanwhile, Thiessen emphasized that despite Saved by the Bell’s massive success, it was much less glamorous to work on the series.
“We didn’t have pull on that show at all,” she added. “We made nothing and we just did our job.”
Indeed, Thiessen highlighted that the cast only earned a “little bit more” money for one season when the series went primetime, otherwise, she revealed, “I didn’t start making real money until I went to 90210.”
E! News previously reached out to NBC regarding Thiessen’s confession but did not hear back.
Of course, Saved by the Bell is far from the only beloved series to not quite pay off its actors at the bank. Gilmore Girls might be synonymous with autumn comfort, but star Lauren Graham admitted that the series’ second life on Netflix hasn’t translated to any extra cash.
“There really are no residuals on Netflix,” Graham admitted during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2025. “But I’ve been paid in love and appreciation.”
Although Graham—who starred in the aughts series alongside Alexis Bledel for seven seasons—was earning more financially when the series aired on The WB from 2000 to 2007, she still expressed gratitude for streaming services bringing a whole new set of wannabe Stars Hollow residents.

“We have definitely reached more people than we were reaching on The WB,” Lauren continued. “And now it’s trickled into younger people, older people, men whose kids or wives probably have forced them to watch it.”
And ultimately, for Graham, the privilege to play Lorelei was truly priceless.
“It’s the best part I’ve ever had,” she said. “It’s just that thing where it was the perfect material at the perfect time with the perfect writer—and it just means so much to me.”
