Watch: Sofía Vergara Shares Cryptic Post About a “Narcissist” After Joe Manganiello’s Breakup Admission
Joe Manganiello wants fans to form their own opinions.
In what is becoming an increasingly bitter back-and-forth between the True Blood star and his ex-wife Sofía Vergara ahead of the Oct. 13 release of his memoir, Bloodlines, Manganiello addressed Vergara’s recent post about narcissists.
During an appearance on CBS Mornings Oct. 12, Gayle King directly asked Manganiello about a post Vergara’s son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara shared on social media, explaining, “Her son posted a thing about, ‘this is what happens when you deal with a narcissistic man,’ and she liked that post. So, they appear to be saying that basically it’s terrible what happened to you, but the bottom line is that you’re a narcissist. What do you say to that?”
Manganiello, in response, hopes people withhold judgement until hearing his side of the story.
“I think anybody who said that should read the book first,” he replied, “and understand what the book is actually about because it’s not about that. It’s about the suffering I went through.”
Indeed, Bloodlines details Manganiello’s seven-year battle with a mysterious autoimmune disease he thought was going to kill him. During this time, the Magic Mike star’s marriage to the Modern Family actress dissolved.
But at its core, Manganiello says Bloodlines is about “survival and it’s also about hope.”
As for the post in question, Vergara’s 35-year-old son shared a chart that listed characteristics between a “good man” and a “narcissistic man,” which Vergara then reposted to her Instagram Story Oct. 9.

Below the graphic, the 54-year-old’s son had written, “Remember kids, when dealing with a narcissist, it doesn’t matter how much you do for them, because they will resent you for it, and nothing will ever be enough and they’ll always somehow try to paint you as the bad guy.”
Within the chart, a “good man” was listed as being able to apologize, set boundaries, listen and tell the truth, while the “narcissistic man” lies, gaslights, shifts blame and resents their partner, among other qualities.
The America’s Got Talent judge also reposted a quote to her Story originally shared by Tom Brady which said “the ability to laugh at oneself is probably the highest form of intelligence” while “the inability to laugh at oneself is a sure sign you’re dealing with an idiot.”

While Manganiello’s memoir hasn’t hit shelves yet, pre-released excerpts shed some light on his POV as to what allegedly went down behind the scenes between him and Vergara.
Among the excerpts is one in which Manganiello—who got engaged to Caitlin O’Connor in 2025—writes that because of the strain of his illness, his and Vergara’s union became “devoid of any emotionality whatsoever.”
