Watch: Pete Davidson “Fully” Supporting Baby Scottie, Elsie Hewitt After Apparent Breakup
Pete Davidson didn’t always know he’d be a cast member on Saturday Night Live. But being a dad? That was a role he felt called to from an early age.
“When I was young and my dad passed, I remember my mom used to be like, ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ And I used to be like, ‘A dad,'” the SNL alum—whose firefighter father Scott Davidson died while responding to the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001—shared on The Breakfast Club in 2025. “I always wanted to be a dad because I felt so crappy, and I wanted to make sure that a kid didn’t feel that way or have to go through what I went through.”
And when Davidson found out then-girlfriend Elsie Hewitt was pregnant, it brought back that same longing.
“It was so nice,” he continued. “Because you know when you’re little, you’re like, ‘I want to be an astronaut,’ or ‘I want to be’ whatever. A lot of that stuff fizzled out, but I felt the exact excitement when I was little.”
Ever since the early days of their romance, Hewitt and Davidson—who met through mutual friends—knew they were meant to bring a child into the world together.
“When we went out to dinner for the first time, I was like, ‘Don’t think I’m crazy, but I just know that you’re going to be the father of my children,'” the model shared in a November 2025 Instagram video for Bumble. And the comedian felt the same way: “I was like, ‘I know.'”
And they didn’t wait long. Four months after making their relationship Instagram official, Davidson and Hewitt revealed in July 2025 that they were expecting a baby—with her captioning the social media announcement, “Welp now everyone knows we had sex.” Five months later, the actress shared that their “perfect angel girl arrived 12/12/2025.”
Calling daughter Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson, “my best work yet,” Hewitt wrote on Instagram December 18, “I am absolutely overflowing with love and gratitude and disbelief.”

As for how they chose the name, Scottie was a tribute to Davidson’s dad. Also, as the 32-year-old noted to Elite Daily in January, “She was conceived in Scotland,” a trip Hewitt had documented in March 2025.
And the middle moniker Rose holds significance to the pair too.
“My middle name is Rose, and both of my sisters’ middle names are also Rose, because my mom’s maiden name had Rose in it,” Hewitt added. “So I wanted to have a little special part of them in her name, too.”
Just like the sturdy flower itself, Davidson has seen himself grow since entering this new chapter.
“I’ve always had anxiety about people pleasing and wanting to be the best at everything,” he continued. “But now I’m like, ‘If I could do that, that’d be cool. But if not, I get to hang out with [Scottie].’ You genuinely don’t care as much, if at all, about anything else. Like movies or being in f-cking whatever.”

Indeed, it became clear that The King of Staten Island star had fallen royally in love with fatherhood.
“All the clichés are true,” he raved on The Tonight Show in January. “It’s so much fun. It’s nuts.”
And yes, Davidson quickly learned how intense diaper duty can be. “They crap so much,” he added. “They crap while they’re crapping. And then you’ll put ointment on and then they’ll be like, ‘Psyche!'”
Davidson even has a tricked-out minivan. “eBay helped me build a dad van,” he continued, “and they put a VHS player in it, and a changing table, and a little fridge, and it has a little Baby Brezza in it and all this. It’s awesome.”
In addition to getting his new wheels, Davidson—who’d actually been on a tattoo removal journey—added some new ink by getting Scottie’s name tatted next to his ear.
And while he’s been slowly returning to the comedy stage, he expressed how his innate instinct to protect his 6-month-old is no laughing matter.
“You’re just ready to fight anyone. It’s really funny,” he told People in March. “It’s like, chill out. No one’s doing anything to your kid. But you have this weird…I guess it’s not weird. It’s good. But you have this overly protective like…if one paparazzi guy pops out, I’m going to f–king beat the living s–t out of him. So that’s a weird gear because I’m not a fighter guy.”

But overall, “Dad life is f–king awesome,” he noted to the outlet. “It is exhausting and rewarding and cute. And I’m very lucky because Elsie is a fantastic mom, and I can’t stress enough how lucky I am.”
Months later, however, Davidson and Hewitt sparked split speculation when she hinted she was a single parent on TikTok.
“I have a baby to take care of,” the 30-year-old said in her May 16 post, “and I also have to work and make money and I’m doing it on my own, which is hard.”
However, a source told E! News in May that Davidson is “fully financially supporting the child and Elsie” and that he “wants nothing but the best” for his ex (E! News reached out to Hewitt’s rep for comment at the time but did not hear back). In addition, the insider said he is “100 percent present in Scottie’s life.”
For the most part, Davidson keeps much of his personal world private. Although, he does occasionally give small glimpses into his life as Scottie’s dad.
“The newest thing I want her to watch is SpongeBob and then go back,” he revealed on the June 12 episode of The Pete Davidson Show. “I enjoy cartoons still.”
And Davidson isn’t the only star celebrating his first Father’s Day. Check out other celebs who joined that particular club this year.
