First Trailer for ‘Kim Novak’s Vertigo’ Doc Film Featuring Kim Novak

“You start to lose who you are.” Kino Lorber is releasing this documentary this month for everyone to view. Kim Novak’s Vertigo is one of the latest doc creations from cinema filmmaker Alexandre O. Philippe, who has been making endless docs about movie history. This focuses not only on Hitchcock’s iconic classic Vertigo (1958), but it’s mainly about the life and success and truth of the iconic actress Kim Novak. In Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece Vertigo, actress Kim Novak created one of the most mesmerizing characters in Hollywood history. Decades later, in this fascinating and intimate documentary portrait, Novak dives deep into what the film means to her. Alex O. gets Kim to open up about her career, her life as an artist, her work with Hitchcock, and so much more – I was utterly fascinated by this doc (read my full review). They’re not releasing this in theaters, only on DVD and VOD. Every cinephile and movie geek should watch it just for the first-hand account of Kim Novak’s time in Hollywood and how it played out with all her roles. Enjoy.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Alexandre O. Philippe’s doc Kim Novak’s Vertigo, from YouTube:

Kim Novak’s Vertigo is an intimate portrait of a fiercely independent Hollywood star who left it all behind to live life on her own terms, revealing a haunting, resilient journey of art, identity, and authenticity in the shadow of one of cinema’s most iconic roles. Philippe: “Working with Kim meant stepping into a space of radical honesty. Her voice — unfiltered, wise, funny, defiant — guides us through the attic of her life: old costumes, fire-scarred scripts, early traumas, and enduring Hollywood ghosts. What I discovered, and what I hope audiences will realise, is that Kim is so much more than a movie star.” Kim Novak’s Vertigo is directed by acclaimed Swiss filmmaker Alexandre O. Philippe, director of many cinema history doc films before including: The People vs. George Lucas, The Life & Times of Paul the Psychic Octopus, Doc of the Dead, 78/52: Hitchcock’s Shower Scene, Memory: Origins of Alien, Leap of Faith: William Friedkin on the Exorcist, Lynch/Oz, The Taking, You Can Call Me Bill, Chain Reactions previously. It’s produced by Terri Piñon. This initially premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival last year (our review). Kino Lorber debuts this doc Kim Novak’s Vertigo direct-to-VOD/DVD starting October 13th, 2026 this fall. Who’s intrigued?
