Drifting in Open Space Survival Thriller ‘Free Fall’ Official US Trailer

“You need to get to the station core now!” Epic Pictures has revealed an official US trailer for Free Fall, a Russian sci-fi thriller that is basically a Russian copy of Gravity. This is finally getting a VOD release this month in the US to watch at home anytime, after first opening in Russia back in 2023 and also releasing internationally last year. Cut off from his crew by a devastating proton storm, repairman Max drifts alone through open space and must trust Delta dispatcher Anna to bring him home alive. But survival has never felt so uncertain – and what is she up to anyway? Directed by Oleg Urazaykin, Free Fall stars Aleksandr Kuznetsov as Maksim (“Max”), Anna Chipovskaya as the dispatcher voice Anna, along with Andrey Merzlikin. The big difference from Gravity is there’s this other voice guiding him to save himself. Though it sounds like she might be trying to sabotage the station? This version features a British voicecast dubbing it into English for the release. At the least VFX look pretty good – making this actually feel thrilling. Lock in.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Oleg Urazaykin’s sci-fi thriller Free Fall, direct from YouTube:

In the near future, humanity has successfully colonized space & build a giant orbital station “Delta”. Max is a repairman working on the station. After a disaster caused by a proton storm, he is left alone without his crew members, drifting into space. His space suit is broken and lacks communication. But suddenly a dispatcher named Anna comes to help. She is the only one who can guide Max and help get him back to the station. Max has to risk everything to save his life, but he has no idea what Anna is up to. Free Fall, also known as Свободное падение in Russian, is directed by Russian filmmaker Oleg Urazaykin, making his feature directorial debut after one short film previously. The screenplay is by Alexey Medvedev, Vladimir Stolbenko, Oleg Urazaykin. This project was originally filmed in 2021 using LED screens for “The Volume” on soundstages. Then it first debuted in Russia back in 2023. Epic Pictures debuts Free Fall direct-to-VOD in the US starting on October 27th, 2026 this fall. You can pre-order it now here. Anyone want to watch?
