Channing Tatum & Gemma Chan & Mason Reeves in ‘Josephine’ Trailer

Josephine Trailer

“Josephine – Have you told anybody else what you saw?” Sumerian Pictures has debuted their full official trailer for Josephine, one of the best films of 2026 finally getting released this fall. Still on my Top 10 so far. The second feature film made by acclaimed filmmaker Beth de Araújo, this first premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival and won both the Audience Award & Grand Jury Prize at the fest. It just played at the London & Warsaw Film Festivals recently and everyone who sees it says it’s excellent. After 8-year-old Josephine accidentally witnesses a heinous crime in the middle of Golden Gate Park, she begins to act out violently to protect herself. This emotional trauma leads to conflicts between her parents as they search for justice, and a way to feel safe again as a loving family. A remarkably powerful psychological thriller about our broken society. Starring newcomer Mason Reeves as Josephine, Channing Tatum & Gemma Chan as her parents, with Philip Ettinger, Syra McCarthy, and Eleanore Pienta. I wrote a glowing review at Sundance and have been recommending this to anyone who admires the power of cinema. A very tough film to watch about sexual assault, but it’s so beautifully made with integrity and vitally important. Don’t skip it.

Here’s the main official trailer for Beth de Araújo’s film Josephine, direct from Sumerian’s YouTube:

You can rewatch the teaser trailer for Beth de Araújo’s Josephine film right here for the first look again.

Written, produced, and directed by Beth de Araújo, featuring a breakout debut from actress Mason Lily Reeves, and critically acclaimed performances from Channing Tatum, Gemma Chan, and Phillip Ettinger, Josephine follows the psychological fallout after eight-year-old Josephine (Reeves) witnesses a crime in Golden Gate Park. As she acts out, her parents (Tatum & Chan) struggle with helping their daughter cope, while facing their own fears around the topic and how to address it with their child. Josephine is written and directed by talented indie filmmaker Beth de Araújo, making her second feature after Soft & Quiet, plus many other shorts previously. Produced by David Kaplan, Josh Peters, Beth de Araújo, Marina Stabile, Channing Tatum, Gemma Chan, Mark H. Rapaport, & Crystine Zhang. This initially premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year (read our review). Sumerian Pics debuts Beth de Araújo’s Josephine film in select US theaters starting November 20th, 2026 this fall. Don’t miss this film – best of the year.
