Official US Trailer for Terrific Iranian Film ‘The Friend’s House is Here’

“Everyday, everything is up in the air.” Bleecker Street has revealed the official US trailer for an acclaimed indie film from Iran titled The Friend’s House is Here, another rebellious story of artists in Tehran. This premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, where it won the US Dramatic Special Jury Award for Ensemble Cast. It’s a US project filmed entirely in Iran, so they premiered it in the US Dramatic section. In Tehran’s underground art scene, two women build a blissful world of freedom and sisterhood. But when their creative circle is exposed, they must fight to save each other… Described as a “sophisticated and heroic celebration” made by talented filmmakers who are the “modern day heir to virtuosos Panahi and Kiarostami.” Starring Mahshad Bahram, Hana Mana, Farzad Karen, and Zohreh Pirnia. Arriving in the US to watch starting in December this fall during the awards season – they’re hoping to get some more attention when it opens. This is a film about how hard it is to resist and be free to create art your way living within such a harsh regime. I have so much respect for these artists! Very good film -entirely worth a watch.

Here’s the official US trailer for Ataei & Keshavarz’s film The Friend’s House is Here, from YouTube:

🇮🇷 In Tehran’s underground art scene, Pari, a theater director, and Hanna, a dancer, are roommates, best friends, actors, and professional partners, navigating rehearsals, performances, and the quiet rituals of everyday life—until their secret circle is discovered. Shot covertly again but far removed from familiar portrayals of Iran, directors Maryam Ataei & Hossein Keshavarz blur the boundaries between theatrical performance & lived experience, crafting a luminous portrait of sisterhood where art becomes inseparable from life and even the smallest creative choices can become acts of resistance. The Friend’s House is Here is directed and written and produced by Iranian filmmakers Maryam Ataei & Hossein Keshavarz (also of Dog Sweat, Eugenia and John), making their first feature film together. This initially premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Greenwich Ent. will release The Friend’s House is Here film in select US theaters starting on December 4th, 2026 coming soon. For more info, visit their official site.
