Watch: TikToker Mikayla Nogueira Sheds Happy Tears Over Finalizing Divorce From Cody Hawken
Mikayla Nogueira is getting candid about what led her to divorce Cody Hawken.
The beauty influencer detailed how her ex-husband had relapsed multiple times in his sobriety journey during their two-year marriage, sharing how a near-fatal overdose ultimately led them to breakup in late 2025.
“When you’re with an addict, one of the things you worry about is, ‘Will you wake up and they’ll be there in the bed?'” Nogueira recalled in the Oct. 5 episode of the On Purpose With Jay Shetty podcast. “And one night, I woke up and he wasn’t in the bed.”
The 28-year-old said she ended up finding Hawken, also 28, “completely hunched over, unconscious” in another room, prompting her to frantically call 911. While the emergency dispatcher advised her to slap Hawken “as hard as you can in the face” as she waited for the ambulance, Nogueira said he remained unresponsive.
“He just keeps falling over, drool and foam coming out of his mouth,” she tearfully recounted to host Jay Shetty. “And he’s not waking up.”
Though Hawken “ended up being OK” after treatment from paramedics, the incident deeply affected their relationship. As she put it, “It just traumatizes you.”
“What I saw was a mental health decline,” she continued. “And with addicts, when you’re doing drugs and alcohol, that can shift your brain chemistry.”
By the last year of her marriage, Nogueira “didn’t know who Cody was anymore.”
“He was a completely different person—not who I married—and that was really, really scary,” she explained. “Cody means well—and he’s an amazing person and a really, really incredible guy—but addiction can change people in a bad way.”
Looking back, Nogueira believes she “failed as a partner to Cody, but he failed me too.”

“Everything plays into that: my job, the career, the pressure, me never being home,” she admitted, explaining how she “got really wrapped up” in her career as it took off. “I was not the partner that Cody needed.”
“I was too early in my career and too young to understand what marriage is. Cody was too early in his sobriety journey and also too young at the time to be looking for a partner,” she continued. “That is essentially what led to me deciding we needed to get a divorce.”
Still, Nogueira doesn’t regret her relationship with Hawken. As the POV Beauty founder noted, she was “really longing for companionship” amid her rise to fame, while Hawken was “longing for someone to go through this new sobriety journey with” when they initially met on Tinder in 2020.

“We’re really grateful for our marriage because neither of us could have gone through that alone,” continued Nogueira, who is now dating her high school sweetheart. “Everything happens for a reason and I do believe that Cody was meant to be in my life for that period of time—and I think he would agree that we were meant to be in each other’s lives for that period of time—even if it wasn’t meant to be forever.”
She added, “The amount we went through together taught us everything we need to take us into this next chapter of our lives.”
