Watch: “The Bold Type” Ladies Give Tipsy Dating, Sex & Life Advice
Katie Stevens is stepping into a bold new chapter.
The Bold Type alum—who shares 3-year-old daughter Rome with husband Paul DiGiovanni—revealed the couple privately welcomed their second child together, a baby boy.
“Hard launch,” Katie and Paul wrote in a joint Instagram post Oct. 2 alongside photos of their family’s new addition, “been a crazy 9 months keeping it to ourselves, but feeling so grateful for our baby boy.”
In one photo, Katie, 33, and Paul, 38, held their baby close as the Haunt star gave the camera a smile. Meanwhile, another snap showed their little ones getting to know each other as the couple shared an image of their feet side by side.
And it wouldn’t be a proper family update without a pic of the whole brood. Indeed, the post’s final pic featured a black-and-white photo of the whole family sitting on a couch, where Paul lifted their little girl over his head as Katie tended to their newborn.
The update on the Boys Like Girls guitarist and the Faking It actress’ family comes nearly three years after they welcomed their first baby.
“She’s here 2.23.23,” Katie wrote on Instagram at the time. “Our sweet Rome, we are so in love with you.”
Following her birth, Katie shed light on the highs and lows of her motherhood journey, including her struggles with postpartum depression.

“Obviously, my role as a mother is one of the best jobs I’ve ever had in my entire life,” she said in videos shared to Instagram Stories in August 2023, “but you go through a period that no one told me about where you just don’t recognize yourself.”
And while Katie—who tied the knot with Paul in 2019—noted that postpartum depression “looks different for everyone,” the life change that comes with stepping into motherhood for the first time is a universal experience.
“When you have a baby, as soon as the baby is born, you’re also born as a mother,” she explained. “And there are things that you gain and things that you lose. For me, obviously, your independence and getting to do whatever you want.”

“Now I have my daughter, who I think of before everything,” she added, “and I wouldn’t change that for the world—but I definitely had to go through a grieving process of my old life.”
But one aspect of her life that will never change is her rock-solid support system, which she credits with helping her navigate the challenging chapter.
“I had many nights where I was having panic attacks and sleepless nights because of it and I’m very lucky that I have a wonderful partner, I have wonderful family and friends that really rallied around me and helped me through that,” she said. “I still have my days, but everybody told me, it gets better and there will be days that the sun shines more and that’s definitely been true for me.”
