Aubrey Plaza Makes First Public Appearance Since Welcoming Baby

Aubrey Plaza is back on the carpet.

The Parks and Recreation alum made her first public appearance since she and Christopher Abbott welcomed their baby this summer, stepping out for the premiere of his new Netflix series East of Eden.

For the Sept. 30 premiere in New York City, Plaza kept her style elegantly chic, opting for a shin-length black skirt which she paired with an oversized blazer, allowing her mesh shirt and black bra to take center stage. She finished off the look with black peep-toe heels, no jewelry and her wavy hair left loose around her shoulders.

And though she and Abbott didn’t pose together on the carpet, Plaza was likely there in support of the Wolf Man actor, who stars in the John Steinbeck adaptation alongside Florence Pugh, Mike Faist, Joseph Zada, Hoon Lee and Joe Anders.

Abbott, for his part, painted a similar picture to his partner in black trousers and matching suit jacket he left open to reveal a simple white shirt underneath. He bore a thin chain around his neck and finished off the look with black dress shoes.

While Plaza and Abbott have not spoken publicly about welcoming their baby, in August the little one’s arrival was confirmed when the White Lotus star was seen carrying her bundle of joy around the streets of New York City.

Indeed, even after debuting her baby bump in April, Plaza remained relatively tight-lipped about her pregnancy journey, only speaking briefly about expecting a baby later that month—in a very Aubrey Plaza way.

“Well, there’s a baby inside of me,” she said on the April 20 episode of the SmartLess podcast. “Today was a big day. I went to the doctor’s today.”

But as it turned out, she wasn’t the only member of her family who missed their apple a day.

“My dog also went to the doctor’s,” the 42-year-old explained. “Both of us—my dog’s getting a scan right now. I got a scan earlier. I’m not kidding. She had to get an ultrasound on her stomach.”

As it turns out, after also getting an ultrasound on her stomach, Plaza realized, “There is a baby in there.”

But all jokes aside, the Agatha All Along star was ready for the adventure this next role as mom would bring.

“I’ve always wanted to see what that’s all about,” she explained. “It just seems so interesting, that whole thing.”

As for Abbott, while he was similarly quiet about his expanding family, he told Today’s Jenna Bush Hagerthat Plaza’s pregnancy was “very exciting.”
