Watch: Lionel Messi Details “Difficult, Complicated Days” Ahead of World Cup 2026
The U.S. is ready to get the ball rolling on their next World Cup match.
Team USA will face off against Turkey’s squad at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., on June 25 starting at 10 p.m. And while “Captain America” Christian Pulisic hasn’t played a game since he was subbed out during the U.S.’s June 12 opener against Paraguay out of precaution for his left calf injury, his goal is to play in this match.
“I’m feeling good,” the forward told reporters ahead of Team USA’s training session on June 24, per Fox Sports. “I’ve obviously joined the team in the last few days, so I’m feeling good, positive going into it, and hopefully I’ll be able to play a part tomorrow.”
Turkey lost its first two games of the 2026 World Cup. So regardless of the outcome of this match, they’ll be eliminated from the tournament. Meanwhile, the U.S. has scored two victories and will therefore advance to the next round, in which 32 teams (down from 48) will compete.
Throughout the World Cup several stats have been kicked around—from goals and assists to shots and saves. But there are some other numbers that have also taken midfield—including the height of the players.
Take Florian Wiegele, for instance. According to FIFA, the 6-foot-9 goalkeeper from Austria is the tallest player to ever make a World Cup team—a record previously held by Andries Noppert, a 6-foot-8 goalie who competed at the 2022 World Cup for the Netherlands.
Other tall players to take the pitch this year include England’s defender Dan Burn, Colombia’s goalkeeper Alvaro Montero as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina center-back Stjepan Radeljic, with FIFA listing all of their heights at 6-foot-7.
Wondering about the statures of more World Cup players? Don’t worry, we didn’t drop the ball. Keep reading to learn the heights of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé and more.
