Watch: Why Kristin Cavallari Says She Makes Her Kids Fly Coach While She’s in First Class
Kristin Cavallari wants to put some cabin pressure on her kids’ financial future.
Indeed, the Very Cavallari star shared that in an effort to teach her and ex Jay Cutler’s kids Camden Jack, 13, Jaxon, 12, and Saylor, 10, about the value of money, she has them fly in coach while she travels in first class.
“My kids don’t just get whatever they want,” Cavallari said on the July 7 episode of the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast. “And if they want something, they have to work for it.”
After all, she’s “hyper-aware” that her children are “growing up in a very fortunate situation,” which is why she seizes any opportunity to teach them a financial lesson.
“Something as small as they fly coach, I’m flying first class,” the 39-year-old continued. “That was important to me when they became old enough that they could. It’s not [difficult to do] when they’re older. I’m like, ‘Bye guys, have fun back there.’”
She added, “It’s good for them. And I think it’s the little things like that as a parent that make, ultimately, I think, a big difference in the long run.”
Plus, the Laguna Beach alum is encouraging her kids to learn entrepreneurship because, as she put it, “This is my money. This is not your money.”

“A good example is last summer, both of my boys created their own little businesses,” she shared. “One of my boys was washing people’s windows. And the other one was washing people’s garbage cans. Because if they want something, they got to go work for it. And they got to make it happen.”
In the end, though, the Uncommon James founder’s mindset is founded on putting her kids first. So, she has made sure to build her life and business around prioritizing her little ones.
“There are so many ways to come into being a business woman and a mother and there is no one size fits all,” she said, noting, “What works for me is very different from what will work for you.”

“Every year it gets harder to come up with creative ways to hide their faces so I can post a pic on bdays,” she wrote. “Yes, I realize a lot of you don’t get it – I want my kids to make their own decision to be on social media.”
She continued, “Part rebel, part kind, sweet soul, there’s never a dull moment with you. Keep being you and growing into this incredible young man.”

“These weekends make me happy,” the reality star captioned the September 2022 post. “Heart full.”

“You are equal parts tough and sweet, strong and sensitive, tomboy and girlie,” she wrote. “You take care of everyone and have the biggest heart. My favorite gift is being your mama.”

While her kids have been skeptical about her dating history, they warmed up to Mark—with whom she ultimately split in September 2024—quickly.
“My boys were so excited about him,” she explained on her Let’s Be Honest podcast that same month. “I think more than anything, my kids are really excited for me. My kids really want to see me be happy and I’ve been very good about separating my dating life.”

“I appreciate everyone DMing me telling me that I showed Camden’s face,” Kristin later shared in a video on Instagram. “I know. He’s a little bit older now and he wants to be on social media, which is the only reason why I showed him.”
She went on to explain how she wants her kids to be able to decide if they want to be on social media, adding, “He’s 12 going on 28, so he is mature enough to make that decision now.”

“Never had it all these years,” Kristin said in a March 2025 Instagram Story. “Is it hot?”
Camden replied after trying a piece of the chicken, “Not really.”
The Hills alum and her son gave it the stamp of approval, captioning the story, “Wait, honestly, so freakin’ good.”
