NETANYA, Israel – The Maccabi USA Wrestling team finished with a combined 12 medals across men’s freestyle, Greco-Roman and beach wrestling at the 22nd Maccabiah Games in Netanya, Israel.
August Katz and Will Greenberg led the U.S. medal haul with three each. Katz earned double gold in both indoor disciplines, winning the title at 70 kg in men’s freestyle and 73 kg in Greco-Roman. In beach wrestling, Katz collected bronze in the 70 kg weight class. Greenberg finished the event with gold in men’s freestyle at 125 kg, silver in Greco-Roman at 130 kg and bronze in beach at Over 100 kg.
Hank Baronowski joined Katz with multiple gold medals at the Maccabiah Games following gold-medal performances at 87 kg in Greco-Roman and 90 kg in beach.
Capping off the U.S. medalists in Israel were Marc Kleyman and Moshe Klyman, winning two medals apiece. Kleyman finished with silver at 73 kg in Greco-Roman behind only his teammate Baronowski. Kleyman also finished with a bronze medal in beach wrestling at 70 kg. Klyman won bronze in both men’s freestyle and beach wrestling, competing at 92 kg and 90 kg, respectively.
This marks the second straight Maccabiah Games that Klyman medaled for the U.S. after winning bronze in 2022 in men’s freestyle.
The U.S. team also featured Ilan Njman, Noah Lebowitz and Danny Delman competing at the 22nd Maccabiah Games. The team was led by head coach Rob Prebish, who is a two-time Maccabiah Games medalist.
The Maccabiah Games occur every four years, when over 10,000 athletes from over 80 countries gather in Israel to compete in more than 45 sports.
