Watch: Tom Welling Makes Rare Appearance With Wife Jessica at Sundance Film Festival
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Tom Welling proving he has a super sense of humor.
After the Smallville alum went viral for accidentally sharing a nude photo of himself while attempting to capture the view from his New York City hotel room, he addressed the online discourse, poking fun at his blunder.
Indeed, Welling commented on an Oct. 10 Instagram Reel that featured a fan pretending to film a scenic video, before being shocked after spotting the 49-year-old in his hotel room window.
“POV you’re a tourist in NYC,” read the text onscreen, “and see Tom Welling standing at his hotel window on October 10th.”
In the comments section, Welling—who is in the Big Apple for New York Comic Con to celebrate Smallville’s 25th anniversary—joked, “Came for the sights.”
The Lucifer alum made waves on social media after he shared a post on his Instagram Stories Oct. 9 that featured a photo of the New York City skyline taken from his hotel room, writing, “Hello NYCC.”
However, seemingly unbeknownst to the Cheaper By The Dozen actor, the shot also showed the reflection of a completely nude Welling lining up his phone to take the shot.
Though Welling—who deleted his post several hours later—hilariously owned up to his mistake, it wasn’t his only reaction to the photo flub.
After all, when Welling’s Smallville costar Michael Rosenbaum trolled him on his Instagram Stories, he took it in stride.
Rosenbaum recreated a version of Welling’s now-infamous post, taking a selfie in his hotel window that showed the Urban Legends actor wearing a T-shirt and boxers as he held up a sign that read “perverts” covering his lower body.
“Just looking after my boy,” Rosenbaum wrote over the Oct. 10 post on his Instagram Stories, “@tomwelling @newyorkcomiccon.”
As for Welling, he reshared his costar’s post to his own Instagram Stories.

And while Welling didn’t address his NSFW photo while appearing at the Road to Superman: 25 Years of Smallville at New York Comic Con, he brought up another salacious pic snafu from back when he filmed the superhero drama.
According to Welling—who played Superman/Clark Kent on the CW series—his costar John Glover once gave him a fan-edited photo of him nude.
“John came into my makeup trailer one time with a big smile on his face,” he recalled during the panel, per Entertainment Weekly. “And he goes, ‘I’m so happy to see you.’ I was like, ‘Why?’ He’s like, ‘I have a picture I’d like you to sign.’ And it was a picture from the internet that somebody had made of me completely naked.”
And instead of acknowledging it was fake, the Draft Day star went along with it.
“He thought it was so cute,” Welling shared. “He’s like, ‘Is this really you?’ I’m like, ‘Yep.’ And I signed it for him.”
