Watch: Ellen Pompeo Cast in New Medical Role on TV—But It’s Not ‘Grey’s Anatomy’
Alison Hammond is recovering after an on-air health emergency.
During the Oct. 2 episode of This Morning, Hammond abruptly walked off camera in the middle of a segment.
While taking a call alongside co-host Dermot O’Leary from veterinarian Dr. Scott Miller for a phone-in segment, Hammond appeared to rush off camera as O’Leary continued to finish the piece solo.
Following a commercial break later in the episode, O’Leary addressed Hammond’s sudden departure.
“Ali is just a little unwell so she’s just had to duck out,” he explained on the British morning show. “Hopefully she’ll be back in a sec.”
As the episode continued, however, O’Leary confirmed that Hammond would not return, telling viewers, “Ali’s feeling a little unwell so I’ll be here for the rest of the show.”
Hours later, Hammond put fans’ concern to rest, sharing a video to her Instagram from a hospital bed.
“Hello my lovelies, I know you’re all worried about me,” she said in the Instagram Story. “Honestly, I am fine, first of all, but I’m getting my little ticker checked out.”
Patting her chest near her heart, Hammond admitted, “I’m having a little bit of a palpitation and now I’m getting it all checked out but I think I’m OK.”
While the 51-year-old expressed hope it was simply a “panic attack” that caused her concern, she was still waiting for doctors to clear up her health scare.
“Thank you for all your lovely messages,” she emphasized. “I’m so sorry I left you. I would never normally do that. I would never leave a TV show, so you know I wasn’t very well. But hopefully I am going to be alright and the doctors are so lovely and they’re checking me out and hopefully, everything is going to be fine. I love you.”

And The Great British Bake Off host ensured she was feeling much better, quipping that she still looked great even from her hospital bed.
“I’m rocking it,” she joked. “I’ve still got my makeup on from this morning. Lush.”
