Sound Off: Steven Spielberg’s ‘Disclosure Day’ – What Did You Think?

Disclosure Day Sound Off

Now that you’ve seen it, what did you think? “Today? Why, it’s Disclosure Day!” 👽 Do you believe? Now in theaters worldwide is Disclosure Day, the highly anticipated sci-fi movie from master filmmaker Steven Spielberg. With a script by his regular collaborator David Koepp & a story direct from Spielberg’s mind that he crafted during the UFO/UAP craze a few years ago, comes a grand adventure about getting the truth out. Disclosure Day follows Josh O’Connor as Dr. Daniel Kellner, a whistleblower ready to reveal the truth about aliens to the world; and Emily Blunt as Margaret, a TV woman with a special connection to the aliens. What will happen next? Will they get the truth out or will the government stop them? Reviews for Spielberg’s Disclosure Day are all over the place – good & bad. Ranging from it’s his best movie in 20 years and a grand sci-fi masterpiece, to one of his worst movies ever made that is a complete disappointment. Or is it somewhere inbetween? Is it entertaining even if the ending doesn’t pay off? Go watch it in theaters and then chime in below. Do you agree with the positive or negative reviews of this one? Does it live up to the hype? Once you’ve seen it, leave a comment below with your thoughts on alien truth thriller Disclosure Day.

Spoiler Warning: We strongly urge everyone to actually see the film before reading ahead, as there may be spoilers below. We also encourage all commenters to keep major spoilers from the film to a minimum, if possible. However, this is an open discussion from this point on! Beware of spoilers, don’t ruin this movie!

To fuel the fire, I’m not a fan of this movie. The more I think about it, the more it bothers me. It is thrilling and entertaining, Spielberg obviously knows how to make a compelling thriller and it’s exciting for the most of it. But the ending is such a huge letdown that betrays everything else going on in the movie. I am always frustrated by a movie that spends it’s entire time building up to something, all to just end with a tease. This is where the movie should’ve started! That major “Disclosure Day” scene should’ve been halfway through it! Spielberg should be giving us some of HIS truth about what happens next, using his imagination to give us an idea of what the world could be like if we really did confirm that aliens are real. Instead, all we get is a two hour long government conspiracy chase movie with a few TV news shots of alien footage. That’s it?! Yes I get it’s about how hard it is to reveal The Truth, but dangling that carrot of aliens in front of us then taking it away right at the last minute felt like a massive cop out. This movie plays it too safe. It doesn’t want to engage with truth or even consider what would change in the world. It just wants us to “listen” to each other and have empathy. As if that alone will make a difference. It’s not a complete & total failure, but this is one Spielberg movie I really don’t think I’ll want to watch again soon. More thoughts in my full review here.

What did you think of Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day? A masterpiece or sci-fi disaster? 🛸
