Watch: Inside Knicks’ Jalen Brunson and Superfan Mariska Hargitay’s Sweet Bond
With Knicks fans committing to all the superstitions ahead of a potential championship-winning Game 5 June 13, Shannon Hart would never dunk on anyone’s rituals.
In fact, the registered nurse, wed to shooting guard Josh Hart, admitted in an exclusive interview with E! News, she’s worked a few into her game plan.
Back when she was playing soccer at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, the 31-year-old acknowledged, “I was a lot more superstitious.”
But that’s not to say she doesn’t shoot her shot, so to speak, these days.
“I always wear my cross necklace,” explained the mom to 3-year-old twins Hendrix and Haze. “I always pray before the game when the national anthem is going.”
And she’s been known to snag a pre-game snack of Reese’s Oreo cups when running out the door.
“Growing up, I’ve always loved peanut butter and Oreos, separately,” explained Shannon, who teamed up with fellow Knicks wife Ali Brunson to tout the winning combo. “And so, putting them together is like my dream.”
As for her husband’s dreams, she’s game to do whatever it takes.
While at New York City’s Madison Square Garden for the wild come-from-behind victory in Game 4 June 10, “I brought this purse,” she detailed to E!, “and obviously it was an insane comeback, probably the most insane comeback you’ll ever see. So, I’m like, I have to run back the purse.”

Meanwhile, Ali’s big play is to slip on her most beloved bling.
“I feel like superstitions are so funny that everyone has them, and they’re so dead set on keeping them,” she acknowledged. “It’s like, ‘Whatever I do will impact the team.'”
That being said, she continued, “I’ve just been wearing the same jewelry, so my wedding jewelry every game, that’s been keeping me sane.”
Her husband of nearly three years—Knicks captain and point guard Jalen Brunson—also provides a solid assist in that department.
“My husband is so levelheaded, like, nothing phases him,” admitted the physical therapist, mom to 22-month-old daughter Jordyn. “So, I feel like I’ve fed off of that over the last few years.”
Sticking to the Xs and Os, the 30-year-old continued, “You think of it play by play, game by game, control what you can control type of vibe, and everything will work out like what it should be.”
Shannon also does her best to box out the noise.
“I played soccer in college, so I feel like going into games like this, I know it’s already high stress for them,” she said. “I know the situation, so I feel like I’ve kind of learned to be calm in those situations, and just handle things as they come, you know, not getting too low, not getting too high.”
And should the situation not turn out to be a winning one, “I’ve just learned, obviously, if he’s upset about something, just leave it for the night, let him get through all his thoughts, or whatever it is,” noted Shannon, “and then in the morning, he’ll probably talk about it.”

It’s not uncommon for Jalen, meanwhile, to leave it all out on the court—the good and the bad.
“Jalen is very good at leaving work at work, so to say,” noted Ali, founder and creator of The AMB Method. “He’ll come through the door, and it’s dad mode. We kind of forget what happened.”
After they’ve run through the bedtime plays, she continued, “He may re-watch the game later that night, but it doesn’t impact. He’ll still go about the day as is, and he’s pretty good at that.”
Of course, it helps that he has his MVP running point at home.
“We’re blessed to have family who live really close,” Ali explained of how they keep it moving. “And then our neighbors, our friends, everyone takes care of each other. I feel like I could call up anyone and they would drop anything for us, which, I would do the same.”
And just as she helps Jalen maintain his game face, so to many other NBA partners. Check out the wives and girlfriends who provide athletes with the biggest of assists.
