Resident Evil Requiem Now Has a Demo, 3 Months After Launch

Capcom has finally released a Resident Evil Requiem demo, allowing you to try its Game of the Year contender for free.

Arriving three months after Resident Evil Requiem’s February debut, this trial version is available to download now on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and on PlayStation 5, Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S.

“The demo version allows you to play part of the game’s early stages,” Capcom said today in a statement. “Please note that save data from the demo version cannot be transferred to the full version of the game.”

Fans who have already downloaded the demo report that it features Grace Ashcroft’s initial exploration of the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center (after she wakes hanging upside down), as well as a brief section as Leon (until he passes the Requiem gun to Grace). This should give players a decent sense of both characters, and allow you to meet one of the game’s most memorable monsters.

Maybe you’re still unsure how the game might run on your PC, or how well it stacks up on Switch 2 (it’s actually pretty impressive!). Well, now you won’t need to pay to find out.

Capcom has already celebrated selling more than 7 million copies of Resident Evil Requiem, and confirmed that the game’s huge success has boosted its financial outlook for the year. Requiem has been a hit with fans and critics alike, with the survival horror earning a 9/10 in IGN’s Resident Evil Requiem review.

Earlier this month, Capcom released a relatively small roguelike add-on — a mode named Leon Must Die Forever — which is fine for a freebie. But fans are far more excited for the game’s full story DLC, expected later this year. Will we finally find out more about Leon’s new piece of jewellery?
