Jonathan McKinsey, a New York Times Games engineering executive, was shot and killed Saturday afternoon in Dublin, California, and his parents-in-law were arrested on suspicion of murder within minutes, authorities said.
McKinsey, 40, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the Dublin Sports Grounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the City of Dublin.
A New York Times spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital that McKinsey served as director of engineering for New York Times Games. He had worked for the company since January 2023.
At about 3:08 p.m. local time Saturday, a Dublin Police Services sergeant driving near the sports complex spotted a man lying in the parking lot and stopped to investigate.

Around the same time, dispatchers began receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting, authorities said.
Responding officers found McKinsey suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. With help from witnesses, officers quickly identified and detained two suspects who had remained at the scene, police said.
The suspects were identified as Shouyong Zhang, 77, and Shili Chen, 77, both of Dublin. Officials said the married couple are McKinsey’s parents-in-law.
Both were arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into Santa Rita Jail, authorities said.
Police said there are no outstanding suspects and no ongoing threat to the public.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting and have not released a possible motive.

“DPS thanks the witnesses and community members who assisted responding officers; their cooperation was critical to the swift arrest of the suspects,” officials said.
Dublin Police Services did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment.
