Original Story: [Fri 31st Jul, 2026 02:05 BST]:
Nintendo has this week announced its Switch Online ‘Nintendo Classics’ service will be adding the GameCube title Super Mario Sunshine on 13th August 2026.
This title debuted on the GameCube in 2002 and was previously made available in the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection for the Switch, which has now been delisted. Here’s the official description along with some screenshots:
“This title is an action game for the Nintendo GameCube released in 2002. Mario and his friends arrive on the southern paradise of Delfino Island for a vacation. However, Mario is falsely accused of vandalizing the island with graffiti. Promising to clean up the island, Mario sets out to prove his innocence and find the real culprit in order to recover the sun’s power, “Shine,” which was lost due to the graffiti. The game features water-based action, such as using a “pump” on his back to defeat enemies with water jets and fly through the air.”
To access this title on the service, you’ll need to have an active Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. In some other news today, Nintendo confirmed two cancelled titles would be joining the Virtual Boy library next week.
