Watch: Nicolas Cage’s $10.5 Million Malibu Mansion Nearly Collapses Into Growing Sinkhole
This national treasure is sporting a whole new look.
Nicolas Cage debuted a drastic hair transformation, trading his signature brunette locks for a stark gray ‘do complete with a matching beard.
The National Treasure actor showed off his image overhaul at the opening of George Lucas‘ new Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles Sept. 19, stepping out for a rare date night with wife Riko Shibata.
The couple held hands as they posed on the red carpet at the star-studded event, with Cage rocking a patterned blue suit jacket that he wore over a classic white button-down and black slacks. He paired the ensemble with matching blackout shades, which were in major contrast with the 62-year-old’s much lighter gray hair and new beard.
Cage showed off his new look months after appearing at the Spider-Noir premiere back in May, where he was still sporting his signature brown hair and clean-shaven face.
The Oscar winner’s appearance comes just weeks after a sinkhole in the driveway of his oceanfront Malibu home caused a local emergency, with officials issuing evacuation orders for 31 nearby residences Sept. 8.
While most of Cage’s home appeared to remain intact, the sinkhole completely destroyed the surrounding property, including his front deck and driveway, which collapsed into the ground.

By the evening of Sept. 8, the sinkhole had grown to about 60 feet wide and 25 feet deep. The city of Los Angeles issued an emergency declaration that evening, highlighting the danger of the growing ground depression.
“Emergency personnel access is severely constrained and may be impassable, due to the large portion of the road that has collapsed,” the city wrote in the emergency declaration. “The intact portion of the roadway is too narrow to accommodate emergency response vehicles, including fire engines and other large apparatus, creating a substantial risk to public safety and emergency response capabilities.”
