State of Play

For years now, PlayStation has put on a State of Play livestream during September, and that appears likely to remain the same in 2026.

The reliable leaker NateTheHate2 has posted to social media that they’re trying to find out the exact date, but “a State of Play in September is looking incredibly likely and soon”.

Looking back through the archives, the earliest a State of Play has ever taken place in September is the 9th. Generally, though, they seem to be scheduled from the middle of the month onwards. I reckon we are probably about two to three weeks away from a State of Play, should history repeat itself, based on what Sony has done before.

This raises the obvious question: what will be there?

Sony has first-party projects like God of War Laufey, Until Dawn 2, Fairgames, and Intergalactic as potential attendees in terms of confirmed titles. There’s potential that new games from PlayStation Studios could turn up, and then the rest of the show would be filled with third-party reveals.

What sort of things would you want to see in a State of Play next month? Post your hopes and dreams in the comments below.
