Watch: Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes Welcome Adorable New Family Member
Eva Mendes is still in crazy, stupid, love with her Ryan Gosling tattoo.
Four years after she debuted the ink, the Ghost Rider actress shared a sweet detail about her first and only tattoo—a tribute to the Crazy, Stupid, Love actor—which features the words “de Gosling” on the inside of her wrist.
After Mendes—who has been in a relationship with Gosling since they met on 2011’s The Place Beyond the Pines—posted black-and-white shots from a photoshoot, including one that showed her tattoo, on Instagram Aug. 28, a fan commented, “The tattoo, I can’t!”
“It’s the only one I have,” Mendes replied, “the only one I’ve ever wanted.”
The 52-year-old—mom to Esmeralda, 11, and Amada, 10, with Gosling—added a heart-eyed emoji to her comment.
Mendes first publicly unveiled her tattoo in 2022, with her ink—which translates to “of Gosling” in several languages—making appearances in multiple posts on her Instagram that summer and fall.
Yet, the Hitch actress hinted that she got the tattoo much earlier than people may believe.
Indeed, after she showed off her inked Gosling tribute once again a few months later, a makeup artist—whom she previously worked with—asked if the ink was “real,” to which Mendes replied, “ummm…it’s old. You’ve seen it many times. I love you.”
As for the tattoo’s meaning? While the words on her wrist sparked speculation that she and Gosling had possibly tied the knot, Mendes has never officially confirmed her and Gosling’s marital status.
But that didn’t stop the Training Day actress from casually referring to Gosling as her “husband” during a TV interview in November 2022.
“I’m loving it here,” she said when asked about her time Down Under on Today Australia at the time. “My husband Ryan is here and our children are here, we’re having the best time.”

And while the couple keeps their relationship rather private, Mendes did offer insight into the secret to her and Gosling’s long-lasting romance.
“Yeah, we do have date nights regularly,” she told People in an interview published April 17, sharing that the pair’s “together-time” includes of “all the unmentionables.”
“I don’t know what else to say,” she added. “We like movies and we like going to the movies so we try to keep that alive.”
