Watch: Jeremy Allen White Shares “Hugely Important” Lesson He’s Realized as a Dad
Jeremy Allen White turns into papa bear when it comes to protecting his daughters.
Specifically when it comes to life online, The Bear alum, dad to daughters Ezer, 7, and Dolores, 5, with ex-wife Addison Timlin, explained why it’s “hugely important” for parents to set boundaries with their kids when it comes to using social media.
“I was very lucky in a sense. I was born in 1991. I got to know the world without all this stuff,” White exclusively told E! News at the world premiere of The Social Reckoning in New York City Oct. 4. “I can remember a time without all this stuff. I worry about young people, children.”
In The Social Network sequel, which hits theaters Oct. 9, White plays real-life reporter Jeff Horwitz, who helps to uncover and expose the internal documents known as the “Facebook Files.” In playing the investigative role, the 35-year-old shared he’s looking at social media through an even more critical lens.
“It’s hard enough growing up and comparing yourself to all of your classmates, your school, and your community,” White noted. “I can’t imagine what it’s like to grow up comparing yourself with the world.”
“I think kids need to keep their worlds as small as possible for as long as possible,” he continued, “and I think it’s hard with all this stuff and with kids being introduced earlier and earlier to it.”

And White’s costar Betty Gilpin—mom to two kids with husband Cosmo Pfeil—has similar worries for her own little ones.
“It’s something I think about every day,” she exclusively told E! News at the event. “You know, how do I protect my kids from something that’s so dangerous that I myself can’t get unaddicted to?”
Indeed, Gilpin noted that social media is “a very confusing thing,” especially given how much she uses it in her day-to-day life.
“I tell them how damaging it is, and yet I can’t pee without it,” she quipped. “So, the calls are coming from inside the house.”
The Social Reckoning, which also stars Mikey Madison, Jeremy Strong, Billy Magnussen and Bill Burr, is in theaters Oct. 9.
