“You still have a terrible team and no coach.” Indican Pictures has debuted their trailer for a funny sports comedy titled Lucky Strikes, an indie film creation made by Indigenous filmmaker Darcy Waite. This first premiered at the 2024 Whistler Film Festival a few years back and is only now being released direct to VOD / Blu-ray. The movie is the story of an underdog bowler as he prepares for a major last-shot tournament. Adam Cardinal Jr, a washed-up bowler, fights to buy his late dad’s alley. With a rival attempting to sabotage him, Adam and best friend Benny plot wild schemes to drum up the cash, leading to a high-stakes bowling showdown. As usual in bowling films. Starring Meegwun Fairbrother as Adam, Victoria Gwendoline (aka Victoria Turko) as Benny, with Gabriel Daniels, Stephanie Sy, Star Slade, Carolina Campos, & Curtis Howson. While Kingpin remains the gold standard for bowling comedies, there was also another indie bowling comedy that no one saw a few years ago titled The Gutter with Shameik Moore. Go Adam go.
