Juggling two consoles is hard work for some, but not for Nintendo. While the Switch 2 is the primary focus for the Big N, don’t ever count the Switch 1 out. 2025 was a busy one, with the Switch 2’s launch really filling out the roster and finally giving us some long-awaited titles and big launch-window hitters, but 2026 has seen Nintendo branching out a little bit.

Leading the charge on Switch 2 from the Big N are Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Third-party support is also proving to be significant on the new console, with releases such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Valheim, and Metaphor: ReFantazio coming to Nintendo audiences.

Fire Emblem is another big Nintendo series making the jump to Switch 2, and oh wow does it look good on the new console.

Set in heart of the Dagdan Empire, Fortune’s Weave follows four new heroes – Cai, Dietrick, Theodora, and Leda – as they enter the Heroic Games, the winner of which is granted a wish.

The Bat is Back in Brick Form, and he’s going open world. When it was revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was our favourite reveal. Mixing in some Arkham series elements with adorable brick characters a boatload of Batman’s legacy, it looks absolutely fantastic.

The Switch 2 edition is coming sometime after other platforms, and the good news is Lego Batman reviews suggest it’s worth the wait. How it’ll handle on Switch 2, of course, is yet to be seen.

A modern role-playing classic gets a new edition with an overly long title. Dragon Quest XI’s Switch 2 edition comes with new story chapters, 3D and 2D mode switching, Japanese voices (and additional English ones), an orchestral score, and a graphics or performance mode toggle.

The bad news for existing Switch owners, however, is there’s no upgrade path or save transfer, meaning you’ll be buying and playing from scratch.

Minecraft’s quietly brilliant dungeon crawling spinoff is getting a sequel. The headline is the move away from distinct levels to an interconnected overworld with dungeons to delve into.

Otherwise, expect new enemy types in tried-and-tested loot-filled gameplay, with the support of online and local co-op for four players.

CD Projekt Red’s hugely-acclaimed RPG is getting a Remastered edition – free for owners of the base game on the original Switch – which gives both visuals and gameplay a series of modernisations ahead of next year’s Songs of the Past expansion.

As for how the Switch 2 version is looking, there are several platform-specific features – including gyro aiming, motion controls and touchscreen support – and you can expect performance to be at 1080p docked and 720p handheld, with a framerate of around 30 to 40fps.

Somehow, Rayman Legends returned. The game you know and love (and we love Rayman Legends, scoring the Wii U original and Switch Definitive Edition highly) has been given a new lease of life with a pseudo-3D makeover.

Expect a new visual style and regular camera changes from the familiar side-scrolling perspective, dragon rides and new map navigation between areas, and a whole new world to overcome.

This third entry in Ubisoft’s racing series is set in Hawaii, and was given an 8/10 score in PushSquare’s review, where it was praised for its handling, variety of activities and O’ahu setting.

Some things to be aware of, however: as with the PC, PlayStation and Xbox editions it requires an online connection to play, so be wary of taking it on the move.

If Ratatan reminds you of a certain Bandai Namco rhythm game, well, it’s no coincidence — this rhythmic roguelike is from some of the team behind the adorable Patapon, but it goes beyond its spiritual predecessor.

Four-player online co-op, beautiful 2D animation, randomised levels and elements. The game has been getting great feedback in early access on Steam, and we hope the Switch 2 version can carry on that success.

A double pack that packages together classic Toy Story games – including Sega Mega Drive, SNES, Game Boy and PlayStation versions of Toy Story (1995), Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue! (1999), Toy Story 2 (1999), Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (2000), Toy Story Racer (2001) and A Bug’s Life (1998) – with a remastered version of Avalanche Software’s Xbox 360 and PS3 adventure Toy Story 3.

The collection also includes behind-the-scenes features – including developer interviews and design documents – that you’d usually expect from a Digital Eclipse release.

The year is 2026. Konami isn’t dead, and not only that, it’s making a new Castlevania game. Pinch us.

Teaming up with Dead Cells maestros Evil Empire and Motion Twin, we’re going back to the series’ 2D action-adventure structure for the first time in over a decade. If the Return to Castlevania DLC for the roguelite is anything to go by, then this should be excellent.

Three Resident Evil remakes – Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition – finally get native versions on Nintendo hardware thanks to these Switch 2 editions. (Previously, 2 and 3 were cloud-only.)

As with the releases of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 8 from earlier in the year, there’s plans for a physical edition due 29th January 2027 – though it’s only confirmed for Europe and Asia so far.

Dubbed the first HD-2D entry in the Final Fantasy franchise, this is based on the mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, with various story and system updates to make it work for a standalone console release.

Expect series staples such as a turn-based battles, an overworld to explore and Chocobos to ride, plus the likes of Cloud, Clive, and Terra making appearances as part of ‘visions’ in battle.

A modern version of Wii Sports Resort is coming to Switch 2 with new mini-games.

The 12 sports – Boxing, Table Tennis, Archery, Tennis, Volleyball, Bowling, Basketball, Golf, Thumb Wrestling, Skateboarding, Power Cruising, and Prop Plane – all use a variety of Joy-Con 2 control schemes, and you can warm up with each one with a Jump Rope mini-game before getting started.

A recent look at the game also confirmed free exploration around Wuhu Island, and an offline Island Crown mode. Plenty to get stuck into, basically.
