“When you enter the water, you enter the food chain.” Ha! 🦈 Great tagline. Brainstorm Media has revealed the full official trailer for The Bay, an indie horror shark movie from filmmaker Phil Volken. This is ready for release in July and will be available on VOD to watch at home right away. Incase you need to escape the summer heat, you can find yourself trapped in dangerous waters with sharks. When their tour boat sinks in a tiger shark sanctuary, two best friends must fight for survival to escape the shark-filled waters. “I’ve made several films set on the open sea, and The Bay is the culmination of my experiences to date – with my crack team of regular collaborators, the movie is finely and expertly honed to maximize the combined fears of the ocean, the unknown, the sharks, and ultimately, just how cold-blooded nature can be – specifically human nature.” The Bay stars Francesca Eastwood, Alexander Wraith, Dani Oliveros, Ta’imua, and Calan Scherer. “I’m delighted with the scale and performances we’ve delivered onscreen” Volken says about this. Let’s hope that’s true! This does seem like it has some seriously frightening thrills in it – take a look below.

At a destination wedding in Thailand, best friends Emma & Lani go out on a shark-feeding tour that turns deadly when an aggressive tiger shark cripples their boat. Stranded in a remote bay’s breeding grounds, panic spirals into violence as survival instincts take over. With rescue out of reach and time running out, safety is just in sight—but the bay between them belongs to the sharks. The Bay is written and directed by indie genre filmmaker Phil Volken, director of the movies Garbage, Extortion, and Dead Sea previously, plus a few other short films. Produced by Nicholas Davidoff, Alina Shraybman, Dominic Vicari. This hasn’t premiered at any film festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Brainstorm Media debuts Volken’s The Bay shark movie in select US theaters + on VOD starting July 17th, 2026 coming soon. Who wants to watch?
