First Trailer for Freaky Thai Thriller Film ‘Inherit’ Premiering at TIFF​

“Did you notice anything unusual?” “I think this woman is not your grandma.” Then who is she?! TIFF has revealed a first look trailer for the film titled simply Inherit, a Thai horror thriller from filmmaker Banjong Pisanthanakun (of Shutter, Alone, The Medium). This is premiering soon at the 2026 Toronto Film Festival in their Centerpiece section as a major world premiere. Davika Hoorne (also seen in last year’s excellent A Useful Ghost) plays her most magnetic role yet as Woranart – a grandma who’s possessed by a demon – in the latest chilling psychological thriller. The film follows a wealthy family whose polished exterior begins to crack when an ancient centipede spirit infiltrates their bloodline. She wants to pass the curse on to her 18-year-old granddaughter, Oui. Along with Davika Hoorne, the cast also includes Sinjai Plengpanich, Trin Settachoke, Warattaya Nilkuha, and Baipor Thitiya Jirapornsilp. 🇹🇭 This looks really, really creepy! It’s not the centipede that’s scary, it’s the way this woman acts & gives off such a strange vibe. Check it out.

Via Screen: The film stars Davika Hoorne as Woranart, who returns home looking as young and beautiful as when she disappeared 50 years ago. However, she has not returned for a reunion with her wealthy family but as the vessel of an ancient centipede spirit, which seeks to pass its curse onto Woranart’s 18-year-old granddaughter, Oui (Baipor Thitiya Jirapornsilp). Inherit, also known as คุณยายวรนาฏ in Thai, is directed by Thai genre filmmaker Banjong Pisanthanakun, director of the movies Shutter, Alone, Hello Stranger, Pee Mak, One Day, and The Medium previously. The screenplay is by Ter Chantavit Dhanasevi, Thamsatid Charoenrittichai, Banjong Pisanthanakun. It’s also produced by Banjong Pisanthanakun. This is premiering at the 2026 Toronto Film Festival in the Centerpiece section this fall. The film will open first in theaters in Thailand in November 2026.
