Once upon a time, three years ago to be exact, it wasn’t looking like Coyote vs. Acme would ever see the light of day. However, after years of fan outcry, the movie was given a second chance, largely courtesy of a new distributor, Ketchup Entertainment.
After a full theatrical release, the Looney Tunes hit is now available to rent or purchase from digital platforms like Prime Video. The movie is also getting a full line of 4K Blu-rays, now up for preorder.
Coyote vs. Acme is available to rent for $19.99 or purchase digitally for $24.99.
Coyote vs. Acme is a live-action and animated hybrid, sort of in the vein of Space Jam. It stars Wil E. Coyote of Looney Tunes fame who, after decades of brutal injuries on the job, decides to sue ACME Corporation itself. He hires a pretty down-on-his-luck lawyer (Will Forte), and together they take on ACME’s corporate resources, headed by the lawyer Buddy Crane (John Cena).
Coyote vs. Acme was originally produced on a budget of $70 million all the way back in 2023. In 2023, Warner Bros. scrapped the movie, and its reasoning was as simple as a $30 million tax write-off. Yep, it was a Bat Girl situation.
Fans, who were already witnessing Warner Bros. deprioritize its animation slate, weren’t happy. Thankfully, sometimes fans can make a difference.
After years of outcry and a series of coordinated campaigns, Warner Bros. allowed the movie’s creators to shop it to other studios. Ketchup Entertainment ended up swooping in as the savior, announcing a theatrical release for the movie in August 2026.
During its time in theaters, the film managed to gross over $88 million globally, with some reports putting that number as high as $100 million. IGN’s review said it “succeeds on just about every level, showing a clear understanding of what makes the classic Looney Tunes characters so timeless.”
Our glowing 9 out of 10 score puts it solidly in our list of the best-reviewed movies of the year so far. The move to digital comes a relatively standard 32 days after the movie’s initial release in theaters. There’s no word on whether it will come to any particular streaming service, but in the meantime, Coyote vs. Acme is available to preorder on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K.
Warner Bros., on the other hand, is going through more chaos than ever. Paramount has come out on top as the mega-deal’s buyer, and after a brief pause for antitrust lawsuits, the deal is back on track. Paramount execs have mentioned the deal having some stipulations around theatrical releases, so here’s hoping they pay attention to the success of Coyote vs. Acme and are willing to invest in animation.
