Brandon Sanderson’s influence is spreading faster than ever. Not only does he have Apple TV adaptations currently in the works and tabletop games coming out, he’s also still writing more excellent books that feed into the sprawling fantasy universe known as The Cosmere. Sanderson fans are definitely spoiled with an avalanche of great content from the prolific author.
Of all of Sanderson’s books, it’s his Mistborn series that has served as the main entry point into The Cosmere for most folks. It’s no coincidence that Mistborn is the first book Sanderson is writing a screenplay for, after all. It’s also no coincidence that Amazon is currently running a massive ‘3 for 2’ sale on all of the Mistborn books and box sets right now ahead of Prime Day.
Mistborn Era 1 Sale
If you’ve never read anything included in Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere universe, Mistborn is generally the best place to start. And the best place to start in the Mistborn series is in the first era, also known as the Mistborn trilogy. Amazon currently has the full box set included in its 3 for 2 promotion, which is also discounted to $23. This set features the complete trilogy in the form of mass market paperbacks. You can pair this with two other box sets in the sale and will instantly have a Cosmere collection.

If you’d prefer to pick up the hardcover version of the first book or the more stylized paperback versions of book 2 and 3, those are all included in the sale as well. This route is quite a bit more expensive than taking the box set route, but they do look better on your shelf.
Mistborn Era 2 Sale
The second Mistborn box set included in Amazon’s sale jumps about 300 years after the events of the last book in Era 1. The second era still takes place on Scadrial, but with an environment more akin to the American frontier during the early industrial revolution. This series includes four books following the story of mercenary allomancer lawman Wax and his partner Wayne. The box set is eligible for Amazon’s 3 for 2 sale and is also discounted to $49.49 ahead of Prime Day next week.
When Will We Get Mistborn Era 3?
Although Sanderson has already written two full series worth of books for Mistborn Era 1 and 2, we already have at least some details about his work on Mistborn Era 3. According to Brandon Sanderson’s official website, he’s already fully completed the first draft of Ghostbloods (the first book in Era 3) and will need to start work on revisions to hit a 2028 publish date.
As for when he’ll actually start work on that book again, he took to YouTube last month to give a quick update about his writing timeline, saying: “Ghostbloods I still intend to get back to, probably in July, but I need to be doing some movie stuff right now”. The movie stuff he’s referring to here is both the Mistborn screenplay and his most recent deal for a Skyward Adaptation.
